And exactly why is this funny?

I just came across this link... http://ldopa.net/2006/06/04/cory-doctorow-visits-a-radio-shack/ And it is hilarious. At least to me. But then as I started to think who I could send this too, I laughed even harder realizing how few of my friends and family would get this. The future certainly is NOT evenly distributed. But the really odd thiing is how relevant to their world the topics lampooned on the link are. And increasingly so every day. I really hope I'm just ahead of the curve on this, and not just another pioneer - soon to have an arrow in his back.
